The model proposed by sociocracy is being developed by both social movements and communities. Our goal of being an innovative project has drawn us to investigating new governance models that deal with the sharing of power and decision-making, as well as organisational efficiency.

Sociocracy is a model that seeks to unite a vertical structure for action-oriented processes, and a horizontal one for decision-making.

Core elements of sociocracy include “consent” as a refined version of consensus, the circle as the space where power is exercised, double-linking as a guarantee of fluid communication, and elections without candidates as an expression of collective intelligence.

We are pioneering the implementation of the sociocratic model in Spain, and alongside other ecovillage projects and collectives across Europe, we are finding out about adjustments that may need to be made, we are living the process, we’re learning…
