This session is part of a series of 12 monthly workshops exploring the 12 competences of the GreenComp – European Sustainability Competence Framework.
This month, we focus on Political Agency, the first competence within the area “Acting for sustainability.”
Political agency is not only about participating in formal political processes. It is also about our capacity to organise, participate, influence decisions, create alternatives, and work with others towards change.
During this 2-hour session, we will:
Explore different forms of political participation and social mobilisation.
Look at examples of political agency through social movements, art, community initiatives and other forms of collective action.
Experiment with ways of mapping local stakeholders and identifying possible points of influence.
Reflect on how people and communities can create change both within and beyond existing institutions.
Discuss what helps collective action become sustainable over time – including questions of care, emotions and activist burnout.
Practice English in an open, supportive and international space.
You don’t need to consider yourself “political” or have any previous experience in activism.
The workshop is an invitation to explore what political agency can mean in everyday life, and to discover forms of participation that connect with different people, abilities and interests.
